Timeshare presentations -- does anyone know where/how can I sign up for free hotel?
Q. I've heard about this timeshare thing, where you go for a free vacation as a potential buyer of timeshare. I know about listening/watching couple hours of presentation/sales but I don't mind. I'd like to try this free accomodation any way, anywhere in Canada or US.

A. Go to trendwest.com and check it out. I know a cheap way to go to Disneyland (California) is to sign up for their presentation. They give you weekend accomodations and you can negotiate Disneyland tickets.

Are the 90-minute timeshare presentations worth sitting through to stay at a resort?
Q. I've heard people (who have never sat through one before) say that they are hounded constantly. Is it true or do they leave you alone after the presentations?

A. Some do and some don't. If it's offering you a free stay, it's worth it.

I am hoping to find a cheap/free trip to Las Vegas (by attending timeshare presentations) ?
Q. I have heard a lot about free trips/hotel stays for attending time share presentations. Does anyone know of any of these that I could look into? I would also be interested for other areas. (I live in BC so would be interested in Whistler, Penticton, etc.)

A. The problem with these presentations are you are at their mercy almost the entire time. You go to more than one presentation, a very very very high sales pitch. You visit various offerings. A two-hour presentation is more like four or more. So what you have left is you provide you own meals, you provide any transportation to/from the hotel site they chose which is usually not in the gaming district, etc I would rather pay my way and be in control

Are timeshare presentations worth sitting through for a cheap vacation? (Travelling from Canada to anywhere)?
Q. ***Any info on these would be appreciated. Im not interested in any cheap travel sites as that is what I normally do and I get great deals already. Travel agents please dont advertise in the answers.***

A. Well if you really want to spend your time listening that's the hour or two they tell you about ... then there's the hour or two after when they'll sit you down with a sales person who'll be trying to convince you to buy into it. I hate saying no so many times so if it were me I'd skip it ... I hate being mean (usually) and I hate that sometimes they seem to hang guilt ... but everyone has their own ability to get out of these deals quick and easy .. so it depends on your personality ... they really can be quite nice.

What 'really' happens at a timeshare presentation?
Q. I went to Hawaii recently. Some guys at a ticket booth tried to get us to go to one of those timeshare presentation things (just an hour of your time...) by offering us a heap of free tickets to stuff. We declined as I am not interested in that kind of thing. Just curious though...has anyone ever attended one of these 'presentations'? What kind of hard-sell tactics do they pull?
Asked by hurricane197 - Fri Oct 23 06:15:26 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The announcement makes it look as though you will get something valuable for nothing. But that is not true. You will have to earn it by sitting through a long sales pitch, often of more than two hours, and frequently using high pressure tactics. For that, you will earn the cheapest of the "gifts" listed.

Q. Does anyone in cali wat to go to one for a garuntted vacationor home theatre system??? leave your email
Asked by MayBaby - Fri Feb 20 13:51:01 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Are you asking for someone to attend or asking for information. If you are asking for information, be careful attending a sales presentation. You must be strong and say no. Additionally, do not give them too much information. Let them know that you know you are only required to attend for 90 minutes and that you are there for the free gift. Normally, big gifts are for buyers and drawing. Go to Timeshare Advocacy Internationals site and look at the blog articles on this topic.

Any free cupon sites for Orlando attractions - not attached to timeshare presentations.?
Q. Any free activities or interesting places to visit other than theme parks in Orlando
Asked by Gizmo1954 - Sat Feb 25 01:28:45 2006 - - 2 Answers - 1 Comments

A. You can get coupon books to various attractions and restaurants in almost every store here, just wander into a grocery store, Walmart, or Perkins restaurant and you'll find a stack of coupon books in the lobby. As for interesting sites, I recommend Titanic: The Experience, Arabian Nights or Medieval Times, Downtown Disney, and Old Town. Also, a great day or night out would be to visit the Beach CLub, Yacht Club, and/or Boardwalk at Disney, all three are connected around a lagoon and it's a nice walk (or you can rent bikes/surreys) with restaurants and shops and such.

Q. I went to a timeshare presentation and in the end I received a couple voucher's to send for two trips, both paying airfare and hotel stay. I am in need of some money. Can I sell them? Will I, or whoever buys that from me, be in trouble? Thanks.

A. Usually they are "tagged" to you, and you alone, and in the fine print you'll probably see that they are not transferable. The problem can arise when the person you sell them to tries to get on the plane, with a ticket in your name, but with a different name & picture on the driver's license...they just might end up with some free room & board per the state.

What is the best way to listen to timeshare spiel without getting hooked?
Q. I had friends that went to a timeshare presentation. They got a nice time share vacation for $129USD. I need some web sites that give me information about timeshares.
Asked by jbeckfox - Sun Jan 6 18:13:33 2008 - - 5 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Before you go to the presentation go online to multiple resale sites (ebay as well) and take a peak at resale prices at the particular resort. Keep in mind there is no difference buying resale VS direct from the resort. Make sure you stand by your decision not to buy at the presentation. If they pressure you (which they will) just ask for information and to "think about it". They will say this deal is only good for today or something to that measure. The response to that is "thats fine, I can get a better deal online, I want my free gift". Make sure you're persistent on saying no. If you are not capable of warding off constant badgering then you should not attend the presentation.

A. We went to a timeshare presentation during a trip to Maui. We were told that we would have to sit through a 90 minute presentation and that we would get heavily discounted travel vouchers for a snorkeling trip and luau at the end. The presentation wasn't too bad because we were able to see some really cool oceanfront properties... and we were able to walk away 90 minutes later with cheap activities. It was worth it for us...although I don't think we'll ever do that again.

Anyone want to go on a timeshare presentation?
Q. If anyone out there is interested in attending a 90 min. presentation to receive a free prize - I can help. Some of the loactions are giving away all inclusives to Mexico right now (everything including meals.drinks airfare etc.) We have nation wide loactions -- let me know.

A. Who are you trying to kid? You are not asking if anyone wants to attend a 90 minute presentation to receive a prize. You are asking if there is anyone out there so gullible as to fall for that line so you can badger and cajole into making a purchase that will forever haunt them. No one, absolutely no one has ever been invited to one of these presentations because the presenters have so much to give away that they simply take the first no for an answer and I am quite sure you are no exception given your aggressive salesmanship in this forum. Be honest, say you want some people to come to a presentation so you can sell them a pipe dream of fairyland vacations while you make an exorbitant commission on a property that they can buy on Ebay… [cont.]

To go or not to go on a three day vacation that includes a timeshare presentation?
Q. We have no interest in actually buying anything but are considering going on the trip. My main problem is that you won't know where you're staying until you get there. I don't want to drive the 6 hours to make the trip and then be stuck in a dump of a place. They say you'll stay in a three-star hotel. What are your thoughts on this? Does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing? I'd like to hear from anyone who's done this, but I'm especially interested in hearing from you if you've dealt with Bluegreen Vacations Unlimited, Inc.

A. It should be a nice place. Generally, they make you go mid week. You might want to book yourself an inexpensive hotel in the area and make it a full week outing it this a place you really want to visit. If it is not a place that you really want to visit then don't go. Why would you subject yourself to the hassle just for a free hotel room? BTW if you want to ease up on the sales pressure, tell them that you lost your job the previous week and that while you are sure you will be back to work soon, it might be best if you waited but that you would love to find out all the information on timeshare that you can. (unless they have a requirement that you have a job when you sign in) BTW timeshares are not a good deal. I travel often… [cont.]

A. I've done two timeshare tours in Orlando, here is my opinion. While it is a really good offer, I think that you should really consider different options. Timeshare tours are high pressure, they will take up a good part of your day and they just don't make your vacation very pleasant. If you don't mind sitting through the presentation, than you definitely should do it. I personally don't want to spend my vacation listening to someone try and sell me something, that I really don't find to be a value. When I went, I actually was interested in purchasing, but wasn't afterwards. They schedule a date where you will get together to tour the property. They will take you around the property, take you on a tour of their condo, show you a… [cont.]
