Has anyone been to a timeshare presentation?
Q. I paid for a trip to Mystic Dunes Resort & Golf course. It was very cheap, the only catch is that I have to attend a timeshare presentation. I am not going to buy a timeshare but are these people aggressive? And has anyone taken any good trips by doing this?

A. It will be a high pressure sales presentation that will start very soft and courteous and will wrap you around like a snake. After a couple of hours you will know what i m talking about. NEVER give signs of interest or they will pressure you even more. Make sure you ask the Lent of the presentation and when you are half way tell them that you have something to do right after the time is done or they will try to make you stay even longer than what they say.

Q. i now work vfor a company that calls people offering them a stay at a resort for free as long as they do a 2hour timeshare presentation. i often find people not interested and i feel it is because my pitch is not very good. any ideas on how to improve my pitch in order to get people to go? or even ideas on how to find people who already know about these promotions who are interested?

A. I don't know where you are, but in the UK time-share companies have a terrible reputation. Hence the reason most people don't want to know soon as they hear that dreaded phrase "time share". Assuming you work for a reputable company, should should stress that in the sales pitch.

Anyone want to go on a timeshare presentation?
Q. If anyone out there is interested in attending a 90 min. presentation to receive a free prize - I can help. Some of the loactions are giving away all inclusives to Mexico right now (everything including meals.drinks airfare etc.) We have nation wide loactions -- let me know.
Asked by maryannatvc - Mon Jun 30 00:01:07 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Who are you trying to kid? You are not asking if anyone wants to attend a 90 minute presentation to receive a prize. You are asking if there is anyone out there so gullible as to fall for that line so you can badger and cajole into making a purchase that will forever haunt them. No one, absolutely no one has ever been invited to one of these presentations because the presenters have so much to give away that they simply take the first no for an answer and I am quite sure you are no exception given your aggressive salesmanship in this forum. Be honest, say you want some people to come to a presentation so you can sell them a pipe dream of fairyland vacations while you make an exorbitant commission on a property that they can buy on Ebay… [cont.]

How old do you have to be to sit through a timeshare presentation in Mexico?
Q. I am going to Mexico with friends and none of us are married. I know you either have to be married or a certain age. The oldest is 25. Is that old enough?

A. They prefer married couples-you can lie about that; 25 is old enough. Why would you want to waste 2-3 hours of valuable vacation time??? For a free breakfast, a free show???

I was told that doing a timeshare presentation could get you a free hotel stay or tickets, discounts, etc?
Q. I have never done one before but I am planning a trip to Las Vegas soon and thought about this but cant find any websites about it. Does anyone have any info...Thanks in advance
Asked by Why Me??? Seriously! - Sun Jul 26 21:04:55 2009 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Total waste of valuable vacation time. It is like summer school. Lots of pressure and not worth it. The shows they give you tickets for are same day tickets for the standard Vegas shows. You can buy those tickets at ticket broker kiosks all over the Strip half price. So you will waste a whole day being pressured to buy something no one wants and you will get tickets worth about $20. *

A. No, just find a reason not to buy one they are a very bad deal. You can buy used for 1/10th the price and once you own one can't even give them away. They cost you hundreds a year even if you pay cash and never use them.

A. Timeshare hotels usually give you good rates but take your time for that. Let me explain, timeshare presentation is not 90 min as they say, it is always about 4 hours, you cannot leave earlier as they will give you tickets at the end when they unleash all and every salesperson on you. Moreover you cannot do presentation on arriving or departure day, meaning they will take at least half of your day if presentation is in the morning or pretty much the whole day if it is somewhere at noon. If you decide it works for you, then carefully research hotels they present, some condos hotels will not have housekeeping and will have lots of hidden fees. Also make sure they have free transportation to parks, and ask how often it runs. If you will rent… [cont.]

A friend of mine and myself went to a timeshare presentation with Wyndham. How does she cancel?
Q. She got suckered in.. spent like 7 hours with those bloodsuckers. They say in the addendum to contract to mail in a cancellation letter, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of a fax number or email address to cancel it quicker. Also, they persuaded her to get a credit with them as she couldn't afford the down payment. Is there anything that she needs to do to cancel the credit? She wants to call and cancel, but I feel they will belittle her and talk her into keeping it and am trying to tell her not to call them. What is the best way anyone knows of to cancel everything?
Asked by unknown - Mon Jun 11 11:45:23 2007 - - 2 Answers - 2 Comments

A. Some states have a different "cool off period," the range could be 3 to 10 days. There should be a clause in the contract that mentions the cancellation procedures. If she got a credit card she might want to cancel the charge on her account (that has a mandatory 72 hour window). I do believe the cancellation has to be in writing (the contract with the resort not the card) and you might want to send a certified letter stating the cancellation. Also she might want to contact a lawyer and ask about her rights (the first consultation should be free). .:Gene:.

Where do I go to find a free trip for attending a Timeshare or a presentation meeting?
Q. I'm located in Southern California... I'm looking for a company in the area or a website that I can get a free trip from for attending a presentation. Thanks guys! Yes, there is away to get a free trip... I've had friends who got a free trip to vegas with airfare and dinner for attending a presentation.

A. You are unlikely to find a free trip. You may get a fuel reimbursement, free or discounted lodging, or a fee or prise for attending. In my estimation, unless you are interested in buying, it is not worth it.

Does anybody know about those cheap trips where you have to listen to those timeshare presentations?
Q. Does anyone know about those vacations that are really cheap or free because the resort is trying to get you to buy a timeshare. I have heard they give you a really nice trip and all you have to do is listen to some presentation about buying a timeshare. Does anyone know how I can sign up for one of these trips?
Asked by candigal - Mon Mar 12 23:30:55 2007 - - 6 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Your best bet is to avoid them altogether...Some of them have some good deals, but you must remember...Keep saying NO...Take the free stuff and go home...don't let them talk you into anything, if you want to buy a time share or anything they are offering, you can do it another time.Watch out for hidden fees for the trip, hotel surcharges etc. airline surcharges etc. I did 4 nights in Branson in a luxyry condo on the lake and all it cost me was a forty five minute presentation on the timeshare, I got tickets to a show and $50 in gas vouchers and didn't buy a thing. Had a wonderful weekend with my wife in Branson. I keep getting offers from them, but I just throw them in the garbage unopened...Nuf Said

Anyone else go to a Wyndham/Fairfield timeshare presentation?
Q. I just went to one in Las Vegas and was treated very badly by the sales people there. Then I read online about a lot of people being cheated by Wyndham/Fairfields points system. I originally thought it was a great idea and might be worth investing, but then after being treated like idiots and having the sales person say "you should slap some sense into her" (referring to my wife), there is no way I would ever purchase anything from these people. Just wanted some comments on owners or others who had similar experience. Thanks.

Lying during a timeshare presentation?
Q. I'm in San Francisco with alcatraz tickets completely sold out till next week, when i will already have left. The only tickets left are of course those wonderful timeshare comapanies. My spouse is not here. So i am making up a story that i am single, though my son is here with me and will be at the presentation to. If they find out im married, i would not be able to get those nice free tickets. Basically, is it ok to lie about this? I mean, i cant imagine how they could possible find out, and any consequences they could impose; they're not the government. They will probably question me pretty hard to get the truth out, but they'll never know i lied right (as long as im convincing). Am i in the clear with this? oh, and the kid's 18. i… [cont.]

A. I don't see the problem with it! As long as you make sure your son is up with the lie then you will be OK. The only problem is that kids have a knack of saying things at the wrong time! They have your details so if they do find out that you are lying they will probably make you pay the full price of what the trip would have cost you.

A. You will get a trip but it won't be a holiday. It will be constant hassle and bullying tactics from the timeshare reps trying to get you to sign up & buy, so they get their commission. You will just be in a different country - Away from everyone you know! DON'T be fooled.

What are some tips on attending a timeshare presentation only to receive the freebie?
Q. I entered a contest to win a gift card and/or money. I 'won' but have to go to a location where to claim the prize. The 90 minute process in no doubt a timeshare presentation. I have never gone to one before but am doing my research on how to be a good liar and outwitting salesmen. Any tips? I was planning to act interested in the beginning but I've been reading that you should just be forceful and demand the prize. Is this true? I don't give into salesmen period so do I really need to go that route? Also, I read "NEVER" sign anything. I obviously wouldn't sign anything to do with purchasing something but what if I have to sign something to claim the prize?
Asked by Clarice - Mon Jun 30 04:01:33 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It is easy, you just have to handle it right. Here is the formula, Set an Appointment somewhere else to start 20 min. after the sales presentation supposed to be over. (Doctor, Dentist, show, water park, what ever,) Be cordial, let them do their job, let them know that you are broke and there is no way you can afford anything, bring the document (invitation) that states the time lenght, 30 min. before it supposed to be over let them know of the appointment. Leave to you appointment.

What do I need to know before going to a timeshare presentation?
Q. We are loyal customers to Hilton and always enjoy our stay. I just called to ask about booking a view days in Orlando to take our kids to theme parks and they offered us 3 nights at the Hilton Grand Seaworld (super nice) for $99-a $500 savings! Ofcourse, we have to go to a timeshare presentation. We actually are interested in learning about buying one but know we are not ready to buy right now. They told me the only thing is that we both have to attend and can bring our kids. I'm nervous and don't know what to expect. Help!

A. Two ways to prepare: (a) The key is to not lead the salesperson on. Be courteous, but as soon as they give you a chance to speak, tell them that you are only sitting through this to get the discounted rooms. Role-play this with your wife beforehand, and make sure you both agree that this is the only answer you will give the salesperson. Once they understand that this is your position, they'll stop trying to hard sell you, because they know it's a waste of time. (b) Go online and search for timeshare resales. In fact, www.buyatimeshare.com lists 13 resales available at Hilton Grand Vacations Club at SeaWorld International Center. There are dozens of other sites that list timeshare resales as well. Print out a few of the lowest priced… [cont.]
